_Who it's for_

## Permits, materials and access affect the install date.

When a permit or delivery slips after a crew is booked, the homeowner needs a new date and the crew needs other work. The people running, planning and doing the install each see what's still outstanding.

_How it runs_

## The installation sequence, in one schedule.

### Scope and appointment windows

Capture the survey, installation, or service work and the homeowner's availability.

_Illustration: A Skedulo card for job #4821's time window, marked Within SLA: the job sits on a 1 to 4 PM axis inside its window - start after 2:00 PM, end before 3:30 PM - and under it the service level, respond within 4 hours, due by 1:06 PM._

_[ 02 ]_

### Installation prerequisites

Permit status, materials and site details sit alongside the appointment. Your team confirms requirements for the planned work before dispatch.

_Illustration: A Skedulo configuration card for Location, a standard object: its fields as rows, Name and Address, then the dashed Add field row is pressed and becomes a new field - Gate code typed in, set to Text and tagged Custom. Under it, the Location block on JOB-4803's job page gains a line: Gate code 4417, marked as a custom field._

### Crew allocation

Match skills, route, availability, and the homeowner's appointment window.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo's options for covering JOB-4841 on a pale blue panel, ranked by earliest arrival: Bridget Hanley first and picked, 2:30 PM with 30 minutes of overtime, then Gloria Benitez, 3:45 PM and 6 minutes away, then Aaron Feldman, 5:22 PM after his rooftop job. The dispatcher tells Tempo what matters in his own words - Keep Dana's window, then least travel - and Tempo re-ranks: Gloria rises to the top, picked for the least travel, Bridget drops to second, and Aaron misses Dana's window. The ranking now reads Dana's window, then least travel_

### Installation details on Mobile

Crews can view the scope and photos, complete safety checks and record closeout details on site.

### Changes and follow-up visits

Reschedule affected visits, update the homeowner and assign inspection or corrective work when site conditions change.

_Illustration: A Skedulo mobile service form card for a solar visit: Follow-up needed switches on and a dashed section opens - the reason, Roof access not ready, and a return window, Fri 15 Aug, 8:00 - 10:00 AM - then the site owner, Helen Pryor, signs at 3:24 PM._

### Completion and approvals

Integrations can share field records and outstanding actions with CRM, project and finance systems. External approvals remain separate from job completion.

_Illustration: A Skedulo panel on a hatched ground: JOB-4803 completed Wed 13 Aug at 5:21 PM and sent where it is needed - the work order's status Completed back to Salesforce with Pass with Actions and follow-up JOB-4871, the completed work to Finance for invoicing, and Gloria Benitez's approved hours to Workday at 6:00 PM. Each row syncs in turn: 3 of 3 delivered._

## Ask Tempo about the installation schedule.

Check crew availability, review changed visits and follow up on missing details with Tempo, using the records and actions enabled for your team.

[Meet Tempo](https://www.skedulo.com/product/tempo/)

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo working a safety stop on a residential solar install: the crew's pre-work roof check at Denise Albright's house finds the decking by the chimney flexing underfoot, so the 20-panel install can't be anchored. The issue lands in red on a blank screen and becomes the task's header; Tempo reads the roof check, the partner roofers and the crew's week, and the context panel opens on the house's map and the install. Tempo picks a decking repair Thursday and the full install Monday; once started, it books the roofer, texts Denise the new dates and sends the crew to help on another install_

## The details behind a successful site visit.

### Site readiness

Add fields for permit status, materials and site access so coordinators can review outstanding requirements against the install date.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo's shared Issues inbox on a soft blue card, 37 active, three issues holding the crews' next visits, each with who has it and its time to act: the permit still pending for JOB-4809, the 22-panel install, with You, 36m; the battery delivery late for JOB-4807, with Tempo, 1h 4m; the site survey not finished for JOB-4844, with Jen Alvarez, 2h 40m._

### Crew skills and travel

Match crews to the required skills and homeowner's appointment window, with route and travel time included in planning.

_Illustration: Skedulo best-match card for one job: Gloria Benitez ranked first with a 96 match on a pale green row, ten minutes of travel and 1.9 miles from her last job, and Doug Lindqvist at 81 and Bridget Hanley at 64 below her, each with the extra travel and the fact that placed them lower_

### Installation records

Scope, photos and closeout forms are available on Mobile. Crews can document additional work identified during the installation.

_Illustration: A Skedulo mobile installation form card for a 22-panel solar install: Panels secured to the rails is ticked, then the string voltage is typed in at 412 V against an acceptable 360 V to 400 V and flagged High, and a dashed section opens asking for the likely cause, Extra module on string, and a meter photo required to complete._

### Inspection follow-up

Set up a workflow to create an inspection task when installation work is complete, then track the appointment.

_Illustration: Small Skedulo workflow card, Failed check follow-up on JOB-4803: three steps run in turn, each card taking a blue edge then a green check - Set the asset status to Awaiting follow-up; Request approval from Wade Brennan, which waits until it reads Approved by Wade Brennan; and Create a follow-up job, which reads Created JOB-4871_

### Homeowner messages

Set the appointment and job-status changes that trigger confirmations, arrival messages and rescheduling updates.

_Illustration: A Skedulo Tempo card on a soft blue card: View agent reasoning, folded, then a box headed Actions complete with a green check. Three tools, each ticked green: Skedulo API, assigned JOB-4841 to Gloria; Message composer, drafted the text to Dana; Notification gateway, sent it to Dana by SMS._

## See how ADT Solar scaled appointment scheduling.

- **Before**
  - Manual scheduling across spreadsheets, emails, calls.
  - Reps limited to about 3 appointments a day.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can Skedulo schedule residential solar crews?

Yes. Crews are matched by skill, availability, route and the homeowner's appointment window, and the readiness details for each visit stay with the job so the scheduler can clear outstanding items before dispatch. ADT Solar, which designs, installs and maintains rooftop solar, grew booked appointments by more than 1,000% after moving its field representatives' scheduling onto Skedulo.

### Can Skedulo check install readiness before dispatch?

Permit status, parts and site access can be tracked on each install, so a coordinator can schedule, hold or follow up before a crew is dispatched. Teams can also set up an automation to flag a missing item as the install date approaches.

### What usually delays a residential solar install date?

Permits, equipment availability, weather, and homeowner arrangements can affect the date. Record outstanding prerequisites, confirm readiness before dispatch, and review other work when an install must move.

### Can Skedulo send homeowner updates?

Yes. Teams configure SMS messages that go out as triggered actions when an appointment or job status changes, to confirm the visit, share the arrival time, and tell the homeowner about a delay or a new date. Which messages are sent, and when, is set by your team.

### Can Skedulo link a site survey, the install and the final inspection?

Yes. The survey, install and inspection can be separate jobs linked with dependencies, so the inspection is sequenced after the install. Teams can set up an automation so a completed install creates the next inspection task, while external approvals are tracked separately from job completion.

### Can Skedulo track NABCEP and other installer certifications that expire?

Yes. Record certifications and expiry dates and specify relevant job requirements. Review those records against the planned date; credential verification and renewal remain your organization's responsibility.
