_Tempo_

## Tempo for store and field coordination.

Ask Tempo about open shifts, review upcoming store visits and coordinate follow-up with your team. Available records, actions and approvals depend on your setup.

[Meet Tempo](https://www.skedulo.com/product/tempo/)

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo working a campaign change from its issue: marketing moves the Easter promotion up to tomorrow, Tue 11 Mar, and its 6 endcap builds are booked a day late. The issue lands in amber on a blank screen and becomes the task's header; Tempo reads the change, today's merchandisers and the kit deliveries, and the context panel opens on the promotion's history and the builds left. Tempo weighs three ways and gives the builds to Lupe Cervantes and Yusuf Demir this afternoon; once the field manager starts the plan it books them, moves 4 price audits to Thursday and emails the store managers._

_Why this is hard_

## The store plan and the field schedule need to agree.

A delayed delivery can make a merchandising visit premature. A product launch can add work while audits are still due. Managers need current store requirements alongside staff and field-team availability.

### Store and field teams work from different plans

A delivery is delayed or a reset moves, but the visiting team still has the original schedule. The store and field team need the same updated timing to avoid duplicated or missed work.

_Illustration: Skedulo Analytics tile: 11% of the North region's jobs started late, up 5 points, with a column of jobs for each of the four weeks to 13 August - on time in blue, late starts in amber on the floor of each column, cancellations in grey on top. The late starts, highlighted, climb from 7 to 10, 13 and 18 while completed jobs hold near 110 a week._

### Launches and visits compete for field capacity

A product launch adds merchandising visits while routine audits and store checks are still due. Managers need to decide what the field team can cover and which visits to reschedule.

_Illustration: Skedulo Analytics tile: 80% of the working day spent on the job across three regions, down 2 points, with one bar per region split into on-job, travel and idle time. North reads 78% on the job and 18% traveling, its travel segment warming to a strong amber; Central reads 79% and 13%, South 83% and 12%. Key: on job, travel, idle._

### Photos and checklists sit apart from work

Display photos arrive in messages while checklists sit in another system. Managers have to piece them together to confirm what was completed and what still needs attention at each store.

_Illustration: Analytics tile: 95% of the week's 428 expected forms completed, 407 of them, up 3 points, with a pair of columns per weekday - expected in grey, completed in blue - and Friday's last four forms landing._

### Missed visits need a follow-up owner

When a merchandising or audit visit is missed, someone needs to reassign the work and confirm a new time with the store. Without a clear owner, the task can stay overdue.

_Illustration: Analytics tile: 14 follow-up actions open across 6 owners, down 3 on last week, the oldest open 11 days - a donut by how long each has been open, the median 4 days in the middle: 7 opened in the last two days in green, 5 open three to seven days in amber, 2 open eight days or more in rose - as a new action opens and one of the oldest closes._

### Managers can’t see which stores need help

Coverage gaps, overdue tasks, and missed visits sit in separate store reports. District managers have to pull the updates together to decide where to send support, then confirm it arrived.

_Illustration: Analytics tile: 14 exceptions this week across 338 jobs, down 4, stacked per weekday in amber for late, rose for blocked and grey for cancelled - and one of Friday's two lates clearing._

## Retail staffing, visits and results.

### Store & program requirements

Identify the staffing, merchandising, resets, and audits each store needs, including when the work must happen.

_Illustration: Skedulo coverage plan for Harbourside's front of house, Sat 8 to Fri 14 Mar 2026: rows for Team Members, Duty Managers and Baristas against the seven days, each cell rostered over required as a bar of slots, amber where a day is short. The levers sit above it - a service level of one per 120 guests an hour, a minimum of 2 per role, hours 6am - 10pm, and the Sat 8 peak adding one more staff. The foot totals 58 required, 54 rostered, 4 to fill, and $64,020 of the $68,000 labor target._

_[ 02 ]_

### Shift & visit allocation

Match store roles to available staff, and assign field visits around skills, territories, and store access times.

_Illustration: Skedulo schedule panel for JOB-4803, Wed 13 Aug 4:00 - 6:00 PM, on a hatched ground: the job needs merchandising, the 4:00 - 6:00 PM window and Denver Metro. Who can do it: Gloria Benitez, a senior merchandiser and the best match - merchandising, free from 3:30 PM, 27 minutes away, Denver Metro - above Doug Lindqvist, busy until 4:15 PM, and Aaron Feldman, busy until 4:30 PM. Assign Gloria is pressed; the status turns from Pending allocation to Pending dispatch, assigned by Mark Doherty, Tue 12 Aug, 2:40 PM._

_[ 03 ]_

### Schedules & instructions

Send store staff their shifts and tasks, and field teams their visit schedules, store details, and instructions.

_Illustration: Skedulo roster panel after publish: 1 - 28 Mar 2026, Harbourside Store, front of house, marked Published; the week strip Sat 1 to Fri 7 solid in morning green, afternoon blue and night purple, Sat 1 filled, Mon 3 cleared and Fri 7 covered; under it the notices sent on those days, each ticked green - two morning shifts filled, double-booking resolved, cover for Gloria confirmed - then 19 people notified, and a Change log button where Publish stood._

_[ 04 ]_

### Checklists, photos & findings

Complete mobile checklists, capture display photos or audit findings, and flag issues that need further action.

_Illustration: Skedulo mobile app on an iPhone on a hatched ground, the merchandiser's quarterly store audit for Northgate Shopping Centre, JOB-4803: status In progress, work started 4:09pm; time on site 1h 11m since 4:05pm; evidence - a shelf photo at 4:14pm and the chiller display, AST-1152, photographed at 4:15pm; the store audit's outcome, Pass with Actions, one failed check on AST-1152; then Submit, and a green notice: store audit submitted 5:16pm._

_[ 05 ]_

### Changes & follow-up visits

Find cover for an absence, move a visit after a delivery delay, or schedule follow-up on an audit finding. Notify the affected teams of the revised plan.

_Illustration: A slice of the Skedulo dispatch board for Wed 13 Aug, noon to 5 PM, the now line at 1:24 PM: four lanes of store work - Gloria Benitez, Doug Lindqvist, Aaron Feldman and Bridget Hanley - with jobs such as a cash pickup, a planogram reset, a shelf reset and a buddy shift. Gloria's job runs past its end and the dispatcher drags her next one to Doug; Bridget calls out from 1:30 PM and her display install moves to Aaron. Each move lands with its travel, and the notices say the store contacts have their new times._

_[ 06 ]_

### Store & regional reporting

Review coverage, completed visits, and outstanding tasks by store and region. Use the results to identify where teams need support.

_Illustration: The Skedulo web app on the Job activity dashboard, on a hatched ground: Region is set to North and Job type to Merchandising, each chip turning blue, and the dashboard narrows - 186 completed jobs down 9%, on-time starts 84%, travel per job 43 minutes up 15%, cancellations 2.7% - its weekly columns stepping down 52, 48, 45, 41. The last week opens: 7 - 13 Aug, 41 jobs at 46 minutes' average travel, the longest drives first - a planogram reset in Brighton, 58 min; a price audit in Thornton, 54; a display install in Commerce City, 52._

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is frontline workforce software for retail?

Frontline workforce software for retail schedules the people who do the work in and around stores, from associates on shifts to merchandisers, auditors and service teams who visit stores. It sends each person their schedule and task instructions on mobile and records what was completed. Some tools cover in-store shifts and others cover field visits, while Skedulo plans both in one schedule.

### Can Skedulo coordinate both store shifts and retail field visits?

Yes. Store staff are scheduled into shifts by role, department and availability, and they can update availability and respond to open-shift offers on mobile. Field teams are scheduled into merchandising, audit and service visits by territory, skills and store access times, so district managers see coverage and visit status for each store in one place.

### How does Skedulo plan store visits around travel?

Plan a representative's visits around travel, territory, and store access times. Mastermind supports route and scheduling optimization; dispatchers can review the plan and adjust assignments when a visit changes.

### Can retail teams complete merchandising checklists and store audits on mobile?

Yes. Teams complete forms and checklists, capture display photos and audit findings, and flag issues during the visit. A form can be required before a visit is marked complete, so work isn't closed without its proof, and teams can set up automations to turn a recorded issue into follow-up work with an owner.

### How is Skedulo different from retail workforce management or retail execution software?

Skedulo fits teams coordinating store shifts and traveling field teams, with mobile forms and follow-up linked to the work. Our Pulse Platform lets you build additional records and workflows. Confirm any sales- or traffic-based forecasting requirements during evaluation.

### Can Skedulo connect with retail workforce management, payroll, CRM, and reporting systems?

Yes. Integrations and APIs connect Skedulo with WFM, payroll, task management, CRM and reporting systems, so store and program data can come in and coverage, completed visits and hours can go back out. The data exchanged and how often it updates depend on the systems and the integration you configure.
