# Better optimization with addresses for temporary regions

Temporary regions have been expanded to include an address, which allows job optimization to be calculated correctly when resources are working away from their primary region.

When assigning a temporary region to a resource using the **Resource record** > **Temporary regions** screen, there is now the option to add an address. This should be the address that the resource will be traveling from each day, as it is equivalent to their home address when working in their primary region.

Once an address is entered, the optimization engine will calculate schedules using this address when considering work for resources in temporary regions at the time of the scheduled work.

The address is an optional field, so if you are happy with how temporary regions have worked in the past, then you can ignore this field.

**Note: **Currently, temporary addresses are only used for schedule optimization. The following features are not supported at this time:

- Travel time in the Swimlane
- Suggestions on the job schedule page
- Location-based filters in the resource allocation window

For more information about temporary regions, please see [our documentation](https://docs.skedulo.com/user-guides/manage-scheduling-availability/create-and-view-schedules/create-schedules/multiple-regions/#temporary-regions).
