# A new Optimize modal across every Swimlane

Every Swimlane now uses the same rebuilt Optimize modal for one-off Optimization runs, so starting a run works the same way whichever Swimlane you're in. Before you click Start, the modal shows which Recipe and dates you're using, how much work is in scope, and how the results will be saved.

**What's improved**

- **Recipe selection:** Search your active Recipes and see each Recipe's description under the field. Your default Recipe is preselected and marked "(default)".
- **Any start date and window length:** Choose a start date and a date range of 1 to 365 days. If the start date is in the past, the modal warns you and only optimizes from today onward.
- **Scope summary:** The modal shows how many work items and Resources will be optimized, and updates as you change the Recipe or dates. Hover over the info icon to see the regions included and how already-scheduled work is handled. If there's nothing to optimize, for example no work items or every work item is locked, the modal tells you why before you start.
- **Choose how results are saved:** Select Preview first to review the results before applying them to the schedule, or Auto-apply to apply them as soon as they're ready.
- **Automatic run names:** Each run is named from its regions, dates, and Recipe, so runs are easy to find later.

Optimization runs in the background, and you're notified when the results are ready.
