Is Your Scheduling Software Up to Standard?
As the world enters a new phase of connectivity, driven by smart technology with almost infinite potential, the ability to measure the capability of the tools we use has become critically important.
How do you know if the technology your business relies on every day is up to scratch if there are no standards to benchmark it against?
Particularly in the healthcare sector, where issues such as privacy and data validity are crucial, standards play an important role in providing fundamental assurance.
Having worked with organisations that deliver a variety of services within the healthcare sector, we understand the need to ensure that Skedulo not only meets the strictest technology standards – but also empowers our clients to meet the industry standards that apply to their businesses.
Some of these standards include:
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Consolidated-Clinical Document Architecture framework
- SNOMED International global standards
- HL7 International standards
- OAuth framework
- Accessibility standards
- Privacy principles
- Workers’ rights
- Private standards that align with a company’s values
Here are 4 key ways Skedulo goes above and beyond to make sure our platform is always up to standard.
In today’s hyper-competitive marketplace where customer experience is pivotal to success, a technology platform that fails to meet the unique needs of its customers is completely impractical.
At Skedulo, our out-of-the-box platform is designed to be as seamless and intuitive to deploy and use as the best cloud applications in the world. But our ability to configure and extend Skedulo to meet customer needs is where we really excel as a best of breed solution.
For example, we identified specific needs for Australian NDIS providers that use Skedulo to manage their support workers. So we created an NDIS-specific extension that allows workers to capture additional details about their travel to and from client appointments (and during client appointments). This data is captured to enable providers to meet NDIS requirements for travel and transport.
The information is recorded by the worker on their mobile app, and is then available for viewing, auditing and approval by their manager. It can then be used for client billing or employee payroll in accordance with NDIS requirements and the provider’s own business policies.
It’s this configuration and extension ability that helps Skedulo customers meet the unique standards that apply to their specific field of work.
Most healthcare providers already have established software in place to help them meet certain standards in their work. For example, a medical practice may use a particular platform to record and store patient records and appointment notes.
Usually, this proprietary software is great for its intended purpose and a valuable part of the business’s daily operations. However, if the business decides to expand – such as by increasing field work or ramping up telehealth services – this software is often highly ineffective because it wasn’t designed to support these activities.
This is why a key aspect of developing Skedulo has been its ability to integrate with almost any proprietary system (whether on-premise or cloud) that enables integration. We work hard to make sure our system can talk to any other system it needs to, and speaks a common language so standards are consistently met across the board.
This interoperability also extends to our partnerships with other best of breed solutions, such as:
By making Skedulo a seamless addition to your operating environment, you can rest assured that you are meeting privacy and data obligations while using smart technology to boost efficiency, gain oversight and drive customer experience.
3. Continual improvement
The technical experts at Skedulo are hugely invested in ensuring our security infrastructure not only meets, but well exceeds, industry requirements. However, we also know there are no guarantees that these will still be relevant tomorrow!
This is why we have a continual improvement promise at Skedulo. We regularly make an upgraded version of the platform available to customers, complete with any bug fixes, improvements, and modifications required to keep pace with evolving standards.
Where we recognise a consistent requirement for a standard within a particular sector, such as healthcare, we have extended the platform and products to incorporate these standards. These features apply at both a macro and micro level, such as incorporating industry-specific workflows and business logic, so people can use Skedulo in a way that feels natural to them in their line of work.
This all helps to speed deployment considerably, while ensuring customers get value from using Skedulo as quickly as possible.
4. User experience
Through configuration, interoperability and continual improvement, our primary goal is always to deliver an outstanding customer experience. This means everyone from your executive team to schedulers and field workers get a consistent, intuitive, and stress-free experience every time they use Skedulo.
This applies throughout all stages of the Skedulo journey, including:
- rapid, easy deployment
- practical training
- real time support
- everyday use of the desktop and mobile apps
It also applies to your customers’ experience, and their ability to trust that the information they provide is secure and confidential. Legacy scheduling solutions, such as spreadsheets, are extremely vulnerable to a breach which can put a healthcare organisation in a very difficult position from a reputational and legal standpoint.
Freeware can present serious security risks too, because the developer may not have invested the money to build appropriate security into the product.
That’s part of the value of investing in best of breed technology: you are paying for the development that goes into the product and to keep it up to date with best practice and global standards.
Our specialist teams within various sectors, such as healthcare, keep on top of these evolving needs so they can proactively make a case for adopting those standards as additional capabilities within Skedulo – culminating in a superior experience for all of our valuable clients.
