Faces of Skedulo: Jenny Gao

People are the heart of Skedulo, and success—for us, our team and our customers—is a collaborative effort. We are proud of our team’s achievements and celebrate them every month with our Skedgend Awards. A Skedgend is a teammate who has been nominated by their peers for consistently demonstrating excellence in our values:

In this series, we share the personal stories of our valued Skedgends who work on the frontline and behind the scenes to help make Skedulo a success.

How long have you been with Skedulo?

I started in March of 2021, so about 7 months.

Why did you choose to work with Skedulo?

It was a combination of a lot of things. I wanted a change and new challenges. I really enjoyed meeting the interviewers, and I resonated with the problem Skedulo is trying to solve.

What’s your favourite thing about your role with Skedulo?

Being able to work with such amazing people, and do different work every single day.

Have you ever nominated someone for the Skedgend Award and why?

Not yet. It’s hard to nominate one particular person because I work with so many and everyone’s been really great. But I will, eventually!

What does winning the Skedgend Award mean to you?

It means a lot. I was very surprised and thankful that people nominated me. But at the end of the day, we’re all working together.

How does winning the Skedgend Award make you feel?

I was very surprised when I was nominated and even more surprised to win. It really made me feel appreciated by the people I work with, and it is nice to be recognised individually though ultimately it’s all about teamwork.

What stories supported your win for the Skedgend Award?

I don’t think there was a particular story, but a combination of factors – such as taking the initiative to step up and help out in areas that were a little unclear.

What company value did you win the Skedgend award for?

I think all 4, but the 2 that really stick out to me are No Shenanigans and Fearless Together.

What does the word “Skedgend” mean to you?

That I’ve been recognised by my peers as doing a good job.

What motivates you to work hard?

Being challenged, being in an environment where I can learn every day, culture, and the opportunity for growth.

What is your proudest accomplishment at Skedulo?

When customers have told me that they really enjoyed working with me and they feel I really care about their business.

What’s been the biggest surprise about working at Skedulo?

The number of industries we work with in terms of clients, and how we’re all scattered around the globe but somehow all manage to work together as a team.

What are you most excited about for the future?

I’m excited for the whole world to open up again. Before COVID, I was planning to travel to Asia so hopefully I’ll get to do that in the future. Work wise, I’m looking forward to meeting the people at Skedulo who I haven’t met before.

How does being at Skedulo allow you to be your best self?

I think Skedulo has given me the freedom and autonomy to really utilise my skillsets. That’s the type of environment I thrive in, and I feel like it allows me to be the best version of myself.

What is a fact about you that no one knows?

No one at the company knows that I used to do crossfit, and a member once challenged me to a 100 burpees time challenge and I ended up beating him.
