_Who it's for_

## Home visits arranged around the person and the address.

Home visits depend on who can do the work and how long it takes to reach the door. Schedulers weigh both when they match a visit, and Tempo, Skedulo's AI agent for schedulers and dispatchers, can draft a reassignment when a worker runs late.

_One Home Appointment Operation_

## Coordinate one-time visits and ongoing services.

Manage individual appointments, recurring services, and visits that depend on earlier work. Keep the person’s requirements and service history with the schedule.

### One-time service

Plan repairs, assessments, inspections, consultations, or service visits around the required skills, duration, urgency, and appointment window.

_Illustration: Skedulo booking grid for one water changeover service, 1h 30m, four technicians, the week of 11 - 15 August: two-hour windows from 8 AM to 4 PM, each cell counting the technicians who still have room and the full ones marked Full; Wednesday 2:00 - 4:00 PM is picked and Offer sends it to the homeowner._

### Recurring visits

Plan recurring care, support, cleaning, or maintenance visits around service frequency, availability, and continuity requirements.

_Illustration: A Skedulo job card for Fenwick Pest Control's Home Shield quarterly treatment, JOB-20418, for Sam Ortiz in Aurora: Sam's change from Fenwick's account page lands in the job's history - Rescheduled by customer, Thu 14 Aug, 7:52 PM - and the visit moves from Mon 18 Aug to Wed 20 Aug, 8 AM - 12 PM, tagged Rescheduled by customer and on Marco's schedule._

### Multi-stage services

Connect preparation, installation, inspection, and follow-up visits with the results and outstanding work from each appointment.

_Illustration: A Skedulo job card for job #4821, a water changeover service, pending dispatch, with its dependency: it waits on JOB-4830, now complete, and is cleared to start 40 minutes after that job finishes, travel time included._

_Tempo_

## Coordinate home visits with Tempo.

Ask Tempo about the appointment book, review changes and draft customer updates. It works with the visit records and actions available in your setup.

[Meet Tempo](https://www.skedulo.com/product/tempo/)

### Worker running late

Use Tempo to help review the next visits and prepare an update when a worker runs late.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo working a late technician from its issue: travel tracking flags Gloria Benitez, whose drive to JOB-4821 at Pioneer Health Systems now arrives at 2:34 PM after a crash on Interstate 25, past the 2:00 - 2:30 PM window. The issue becomes the task's header; Tempo reads where she is, times routes and reads the job. The panel opens on her drive and the job's map, and Tempo picks Santa Fe Drive, 22 minutes sooner. Once the dispatcher starts the plan, Tempo sends Gloria the route, texts Helen Pryor and checks her 4:00 PM holds_

### Customer reschedules last minute

When a visit is cancelled, check whether another request fits the available time before offering it.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo working a cancellation from its issue: Dana Whitfield cancels today's 2:30 PM thermostat check, leaving Doug Lindqvist 2:30 - 4:15 PM open. The issue becomes the task's header; Tempo reads his afternoon, the queued work nearby and who asked to be seen sooner. The panel opens on Dana's note and the gap in Doug's day, and Tempo picks Nina Castillo's air conditioner repair, 12 minutes away. Once the dispatcher starts the plan, Tempo offers her 2:30 PM by text, books it when she says yes and rebooks Dana_

### Access not confirmed

Access is not confirmed. Prepare a follow-up so the worker knows what to expect.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo following up from its issue: Hector Salinas hasn't answered the offer for JOB-4855, a Thursday early start. The issue becomes the task's header; Tempo reads the open offers and today's timing, and the context panel opens on what is still waiting - two Thursday offers, Hoa Pham double-booked around JOB-4858, four jobs to allocate next week. Once the dispatcher starts the plan, Tempo texts Hector, who accepts, offers JOB-4857 to Curtis Mensah, who accepts, and moves JOB-4863 to clear Hoa's overlap_

### Skill mismatch found late

The visit needs a different qualification. Review who could take it and whether the time needs to change.

_Illustration: Skedulo Tempo at the start of a dispatcher's day: Tempo greets Mark Doherty at 7:30 AM and writes his Morning brief beside the Issues inbox - 41 jobs today, 11 technicians on, 94% covered; overnight it moved a job to Thursday, synced Gloria Benitez's Friday leave from Workday and sent 23 arrival windows; first, a skill gap on JOB-4866 in Aurora, two offers unanswered and rain from 3:00 PM. Mark opens the skill gap, and Tempo has a plan ready: Aaron Feldman, who holds the certificate, takes the job with Andre Bassett riding along_

_How it runs_

## The home appointment lifecycle.

_[ 01 ]_

### Service requests

Record the service, location, expected duration, access details, and any eligibility or worker requirements.

_Illustration: Skedulo's job record created from Larkfield Heating & Air's booking page, on a hatched ground: Booked online, Wed 13 Aug, 8:46 AM. JOB-4892, Pending allocation, Furnace tune-up, Thu 14 Aug, 10 AM - 12 PM; the homeowner Denise Albright, her phone, 1452 S Ogden St, the $89 fall offer. Then her answers land on the job: gas furnace in the basement, carbon monoxide alarm yes, side gate with the dog in the backyard, street parking only, and a photo of the furnace label._

_[ 02 ]_

### Appointment booking

Offer available windows using configured booking rules, arrange a time through staff, or add the visit to a recurring schedule.

_Illustration: Larkfield Heating & Air's booking in a card on a hatched ground: Furnace tune-up, $89, Thu 14 Aug, and three open times from live availability - 8 - 10 AM, 10 AM - 12 PM and 1 - 3 PM. The homeowner picks 10 AM - 12 PM and books it; the button turns green - Booked - and the line under it, in Skedulo, says JOB-4892 created, tagged Booked online._

_[ 03 ]_

### Worker allocation

Match recorded requirements to suitable, available workers. Account for continuity, preferences, travel, and access where relevant.

_Illustration: Skedulo offer on a hatched ground for a backflow test, JOB-4835, Thu 14 Aug, 9:00 AM, sent to seven eligible technicians by push and in-app notification under a first-to-accept rule: Wade Brennan accepts, Gloria Benitez and Aaron Feldman close, and Wade is allocated automatically within 2 minutes._

_[ 04 ]_

### Confirmation & travel

Send appointment reminders and timing updates through configured communications, and give workers their route and access details.

_Illustration: Four Skedulo dispatch messages passing through one slot on a hatched ground, one at a time, each on a different channel: an app push assigning a water changeover for Wednesday at 2:00 PM; an SMS offer to a nurse for a Thursday 9:00 AM visit, her reply YES and the confirmation it is on her schedule; a message in a solar crew's channel swapping the morning's order because a site gate opens late; and an Android push reassigning a fire door audit for 3:30 PM._

_[ 05 ]_

### The visit

Provide instructions and forms on mobile, and record the work performed and any remaining needs.

_Illustration: Skedulo mobile app on an iPhone, cut off at its lower third: a water changeover service report with the technician's update in its Mobile AI box - pressure test passed at 62 PSI, cleaned and refitted the strainer, Helen signed off. Each phrase lights in turn and fills its own field: test pressure 62 PSI, in range, the strainer item on the checklist, and Helen Pryor as signed off by, each with a small AI mark, the count running to 3 fields filled._

_[ 06 ]_

### Outcomes & follow-up

Record the outcome, arrange another appointment or follow-up if needed, and share results through configured integrations.

_Illustration: A Skedulo panel testing version 8 of the workflow Failed check follow-up on both paths: Run tests is pressed; A check failed on JOB-4803 passes and books a follow-up job, Replace isolator, 3 hours; Every check passed on JOB-4833 passes and the work order is updated in Salesforce. Below, what changed since version 7. Publish version 8 is pressed and the workflow reads Version 8, Published._

_Booking & Self-Scheduling_

## Self-service booking, within your rules.

Customers, families or staff can choose from appointment windows your service makes available. The options account for configured service areas, duration, skills and capacity.

_Illustration: Larkfield Heating & Air's booking page on an iPhone: under the Larkfield header, a technician at a condenser with Fall furnace tune-up $89, 4.9 stars from 2,184 Google reviews, and the services with their prices. Denise taps Furnace tune-up, $89; Thursday 14 Aug is picked and the arrival windows load from live availability; she picks 10 AM - 12 PM, her details fill in, she books, and the page says You're booked, Denise - booking reference JOB-4892 - with what happens next._

_Matching, Readiness & Routes_

## Allocate the right person for the visit.

Qualifications and availability are the starting point. Scheduling can also account for continuity, language, preferences and accessibility requirements where relevant, alongside travel time to the address.

_Illustration: Skedulo best-match card standing on a map of the top technician's real route through Denver: Gloria Benitez first with a 96 match for the water changeover visit, Doug Lindqvist at 81 and Bridget Hanley at 64 below her, the visit pinned where it sits and the chosen insertion into her route dashed in with its travel cost, 10 minutes and 3.3 miles._

_Mobile_

## The visit details, before the doorbell.

Workers can check service history, access notes and contact details on Mobile before arriving. Instructions and forms are available with the appointment, ready to use during the visit.

- Customer and household context
- Route, access instructions, and service history
- Contacts, tasks, forms, and documents
- Safety notes and next actions

_Illustration: An iPhone running the Skedulo app on a hatched ground, Doug Lindqvist's visit JOB-4892, Furnace tune-up: the page opens on a map of the house at 1452 S Ogden St, Denver, Dispatched, Thu 14 Aug, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, then scrolls to From Denise, answered the day before: furnace - gas, in the basement; carbon monoxide alarm - yes; a photo of the label on the furnace; and an amber note: use the side gate, the dog is in the backyard._

_Customers & Messaging_

## Appointment updates without the back-and-forth.

Send confirmations, preparation instructions and reminders through configured communications. When the schedule changes, share the revised timing with the customer and worker.

_Illustration: Fixwell Appliance Repair on an iPhone: a text arrives - Good news, Theo - your drain pump is in. Pick your return visit - with a link. Theo taps it and Fixwell's page opens: repair R-7Q4K, dishwasher not draining, part in, estimate $186 approved; free changes up to 24 hours before; open times on Thu 14, Fri 15 and Mon 18 Aug. He picks Fri 15 Aug, 8 - 10 AM - You're set - and a Skedulo card beside the phone shows the return visit booked for Fri 15 Aug, tagged Booked by customer._

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is home appointment scheduling software?

Home appointment scheduling software books visits to people's homes and matches each visit to a suitable worker. It then keeps the customer and the worker informed until the visit is done. It covers one-time repairs and assessments, recurring care or maintenance visits, and multi-stage services where each visit depends on the one before.

### How does Skedulo help schedulers keep home visits on track?

Schedulers offer appointment windows through configured booking rules and match visits to qualified workers, weighing continuity, language, accessibility and travel. Confirmations and reminders cut down on calls to arrange and check visits. When a worker runs late, schedulers see which visits are affected, and Tempo can recommend a reassignment and draft the customer update.

### What do visiting workers and contractors see in the Skedulo app?

Workers see the household context, route, access instructions, service history, contacts and any safety notes before they arrive. During the visit, they complete tasks and forms, and record notes, photos and signatures. If more work is needed, they record what's unresolved so the next visit can be arranged.

### Can customers book their own home appointment?

Yes. A configured booking experience offers appointment windows based on the service, location, required skills, availability and capacity. Customers, families, partners or staff can choose from the times your service allows.

### What happens when a worker or customer cancels?

Review the affected appointment, arrange a replacement or another time, and update the customer and worker. If a customer cancels, compare the opening with waiting requests before offering it to someone else.

### How is Skedulo different from a general appointment scheduler?

Home visits depend on who can do the work and how long it takes to reach the address. Skedulo brings those requirements into scheduling, alongside the continuity, language, and accessibility information your service uses.

## Let's look at your appointment book.
