August 6, 2020 (San Francisco, CA) — Skedulo, the leader in deskless productivity software, today released a research report titled “Solving the Software Gap for the Growing Community of Deskless Workers.” The report highlights how deskless workers, defined as remote and mobile employees who don’t work in a traditional office setting, are highly underserved by existing technology providers still focused on desk-based work.
The deskless workforce, which consists of 2.7 billion people and makes up 80% of the global workforce, will continue to grow despite the current economic situation, as two-thirds of respondents stated in the study. As it stands today, many workers in the field don’t have the tools they need to adequately complete their jobs, with 86% of respondents agreeing the productivity and effectiveness of their deskless workers is hindered by having to juggle multiple apps. The top 3 reasons respondents would invest in a deskless productivity platform are to boost productivity, improve communication, and enhance the employee experience.

Pulse surveyed more than 100 technology decision-makers to better understand the current state of the deskless workforce, the technology used to serve deskless workers, the effectiveness of tools being used by deskless workers, and their technology stacks. Respondents were director level and above across small, medium, and large size companies.
